Colorwork Series No. 2
A study in marls using seven close colors.
Colorwork Series No. 2 is a new using shawl pattern. It uses seven colors from one wedge of the colorwheel, which make twenty-one two-stand marls. Each of these twenty-one marls is worked for one pattern repeat two times. This means every color is represented evenly and the yarn is consumed evenly.
The stitch pattern, Nuts and Bolts from Reversible Knitting, is a damask-type pattern, meaning it is made up of areas of stockinette and reverse stockinette. It has the hand of stockinette, but looks lively in marls because of the way marls have vertical directionality on stockinette and horizontal directionality on reverse stockinette.
The yarn is Ito Kinu, which is a pure silk noil. It looks like a tweed and feels like cotton. The two-strand lightweight fabric has beautiful drape. Ito Kinu comes in many colors so this piece can be made in many variations.
